Role Overview
This is a full-time hybrid position based at our Ribble Valley HQ. As Technical Service Manager, you will lead the reactive and service function across commercial and domestic works, providing technical support, reviewing service documentation and working closely with the Operations Support team to ensure jobs progress efficiently. You will also strengthen client relationships, identify additional works and help grow the department through new commercial service and maintenance contracts.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop the Reactive & Service Department across commercial and domestic works
- Provide technical support to engineers, office staff and clients, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently and professionally
- Work closely with Operations Support on diaries, job planning, administration and client updates
- Review service reports, job sheets, site notes and photographs to identify remedial works, quotations, technical concerns and next steps
- Provide the technical information required for quotations, remedial proposals, client updates and follow-up actions
- Support engineers with fault finding, diagnostics, controls, BMS issues, HVAC systems, plumbing and heating equipment
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams to ensure service works are completed to a high standard
- Identify opportunities for additional works, service improvements, remedials and ongoing maintenance support
- Build relationships with new and existing clients and proactively help secure commercial service and maintenance contracts
- Develop service procedures, engineer documentation, training records and departmental processes
- Identify training needs and support manufacturer, in-house and technical training for engineers
- Carry out site surveys, technical inspections and client visits where required
- Ensure health and safety, quality standards and company procedures are followed across all service works
- Support the recruitment, interviewing and onboarding of engineers as the department grows
- Work with senior management to structure, improve and grow the reactive and service function
Experience & Qualifications
- Previous experience in a technical service, mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, heating or facilities management role
- Strong technical knowledge of commercial and/or domestic mechanical systems, including HVAC, heating, plumbing, pumps, valves, controls and associated plant
- Experience supporting engineers, reviewing job sheets and identifying remedial works, quotations and follow-up actions
- Excellent communication skills and the ability to work professionally with clients, engineers, suppliers and internal teams
- Strong fault-finding, problem-solving and decision-making skills
- Commercial awareness and the confidence to build relationships, generate service opportunities and grow the department
- A proactive approach to service delivery, business development and continuous improvement
