Client and Sector

Client Overview

Client Park Drive, Newcastle upon Tyne

A hospital facility requiring the full upgrade of core mechanical and electrical building services. The client needed a reliable, compliant infrastructure to support operational and clinical requirements, delivered to a demanding programme with robust health and safety management throughout.

Sector Healthcare

Delivering within a hospital environment placed specific demands on health and safety management, infection control awareness, and programme certainty. Coordination between trades, early sequencing, and parallel working were all essential to meeting the rigorous standards expected in a healthcare setting whilst achieving handover at the lower end of the estimated programme window.

Scope of Works
Mechanical Installation

Pumps, valves and heating distribution manifolds installed and integrated throughout the building. Pipework runs installed including vertical risers and isolation valves at all key junctions, with full thermal insulation applied to improve energy efficiency and extend system longevity.

Water Systems & Commissioning

Hot and cold water services installed throughout the facility. All pipework and valves commissioned, with a full chlorination programme carried out to meet Water Regulations guidance. On-site commissioning included pressure testing, system balancing and a complete flushing regime.

Electrical Works

Electrical scope included power supplies, control panels and integration with building systems as required. All electrical works were carried out by accredited contractors and tested and certified in accordance with current UK regulations prior to handover.

Quality Assurance & Documentation

Factory Acceptance Testing conducted on all plant control panels prior to site delivery. A comprehensive Operations and Maintenance manual was issued at handover, including full system schematics, commissioning certification, test results and lifecycle guidance.

Compliance, Safety and Delivery

Project Detail

Vital Synergy delivered a full turnkey M&E package for this hospital facility, covering the complete installation of heating distribution, pipework infrastructure, water services, electrical works, commissioning and quality documentation. The project was completed and handed over within 10 weeks, at a final value of £437,892, meeting both programme and budget targets.

The programme was originally estimated at between eight and twelve weeks. Early coordination, phased installation and parallel working between trades enabled efficient progress on site and ensured the project was completed at the lower end of that estimate without any compromise to quality or compliance standards required within a healthcare environment.

Compliance and Safety

Health and safety management was embedded throughout the project from pre-construction planning through to handover. Comprehensive Risk Assessments and Method Statements were prepared prior to commencing works, addressing COSHH requirements, noise assessments and vibration control measures. All operatives were inducted on site and worked in accordance with agreed safe systems of work throughout. The project was completed without incident, reflecting strong safety leadership across all disciplines.

Water systems were installed in accordance with current Water Regulations guidance. A full chlorination programme was carried out on completion of the water services installation to ensure compliance with water hygiene standards prior to handover. All electrical works were completed and tested by accredited contractors in line with current UK regulations, with formal certification submitted as part of the handover documentation package.

Programme and Delivery

The project was carefully programmed from the outset to achieve practical completion within the agreed timeframe. Early trade coordination, sequenced installation and concurrent working across mechanical and electrical scopes maintained consistent progress on site. Regular progress reviews and direct communication between the site team and client ensured that any emerging risks were identified and resolved promptly, without impact on the agreed programme or cost plan.

A full commissioning process was undertaken prior to handover, encompassing pressure testing of all pipework, system flushing and balancing, water chlorination and functional testing of all mechanical and electrical systems. All commissioning results were witnessed and documented. The project was handed over with all systems fully operational and supported by a complete Operations and Maintenance manual, providing the building owner with a robust reference for the ongoing management and maintenance of all installed building services.

Vital Synergy delivered the full M&E package for our facility in just ten weeks, without compromising on quality. Their coordination across heating, pipework and water services was seamless, and commissioning was handled professionally throughout.
